Weekly Announcements 10/04

Harvest Fest! Please join us this Sunday, October 4th from 3- 6 PM for FREE food, games, bounce houses, music, and more, and be sure to invite your neighbors, friends and family to join us as well. If you are thinking about volunteering please click, Good Shepherd Lutheran Christian Outreach: Harvest Fest 2026 to see what we still need help with. If you have any questions about  Harvest Fest, please contact Jennifer Buchanan at buchanjL@gmail.com or 618-580-3150.

Braille Help: The Braille ministry that Good Shepherd participates in every first Thursday of the month at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto continues to do well. We are one of several churches that put together Braille books of the Bible in assembly fashion. We need 10 people to make up the assembly line and we are in need of people to substitute. If you think you might be
interested, contact the church office.

Blood Drive: Our next blood drive will be Sunday, October 4, from 2:00-6:00 p.m. during the Harvest Fest!!! This will not be in the mobile unit, but will be in the Early Childhood Center Lobby so that people can stop in to donate while they are at the Harvest Fest and save themselves a trip. If we have 20 viable units of blood donated the school will receive a grant for Physical Education equipment. It is a WIN, WIN, WIN, opportunity…Harvest Fest, Blood Drive, and possible school grant in one afternoon!!

Youth News: Mission Trip News! Our team of 24 will be traveling to Guatemala this summer to build two homes and two cookstoves for families in the San José Calderas. We will also be holding a VBS there for the children of the village.  In the evenings we will be interacting with the children of the Child Beyond Children's Home.  To be able to bless these three areas, our group must raise $850 per person for just the homes' materials, VBS snacks & materials and a set donation for the orphanage.  Along with these donations, each person must pay for their travel, lodging, and food.  This cost will be around $2000 per person. Our group hopes the members of Good Shepherd would help with some of these costs through your donations and supporting our fundraisers this year. Please be on the look-out on how you can be part of this mission too through your financial support and your prayers! Stay tuned for more info about the trip to Guatemala!

Our church is responsible to deliver six weeks of the year Monday through Friday rotating with nine other local churches, one week every two months. Deliveries are from approximately 10 AM to 11:15 AM. If you can volunteer in this way, either regularly or as a substitute and would like to know more, please contact Tamara Tucker-Lindsey at 618-806-3062 or by emailing ttlindsey@att.net. Thank you.

LCMS Foundation: Including a statement of your Christian faith is important in your estate plans. Creating that statement of faith is something we do in community. We might call your
statement of faith a Christian Preamble (if you include it at the beginning of your will) or a Family Blessing if you just tuck it away with your will/trust documents. But where do I start in summarizing what I believe? Think about the creeds, both Apostles and Nicene, which we recite together regularly in worship. In the community of faith, we have a great common statement of our faith. Your LCMS Foundation Gift Planning Counselor can help you to get started on writing your personal statement. Contact Scott Radden @ 618-977-4049 or scott.radden@lfnd.org.
