Starting Wednesday, August 5th, our Midweek Prayer Service will begin.

Baptism for Layla Lynn Meredith, daughter of Samuel & Susannah Meredith, is at the Saturday, service. Please help in welcoming Layla into our Good Shepherd home!

Portals of Prayer for July -September are available in the narthex.

SOS: Thanks to all who volunteered to help on July 30, we have enough help for this month. But, we could still use a few more donations of six packs of applesauce and Nutri Grain (or other brand) soft baked breakfast bars. The donations can be placed in the marked crate in the connecting hallway. 

All Ladies are welcome to attend the LWML program on August 1st at St. James Lutheran Church, Glen Carbon. They will be hosting a Tea Social at 10 a.m. if any women would like to attend and needs a ride or have any questions please contact Pam Hoffman at 618-409-3163 text or call.  For the month of August we will be taking a collection for Baby Layettes to donate to Orphan Grain Train and will be put together by LWML at the September meeting.  There will be a box in the connecting hallway in the month of August to receive the items.
The items are: 
18 baby washcloths
26 onsies
12 regular baby blankets

Join the Crossroads Group for Fellowship and Food! The Crossroads Group invites all Good Shepherd families and individuals to connect through faith, activities, and service. Join us in the Church Fellowship Hall right after the 10:30 AM service for three family-friendly potlucks:  August 23 & September 27

Youth: As we look forward to August, be sure to mark the following items on your calendar –
August 1st:  Junior High Kick-Off Party (for incoming 7th & 8th graders) at the Kober’s house: 7 Addison Street, Collinsville, IL  11am-1pm.  Bring your swimsuit and a side dish to share.
August 29th: Senior High District Youth Gathering – “Rest”  Matthew11:28    9am-3pm at Good Shepherd.  $25 per person. Breakfast and Lunch will be served.  Sign up with Carrie Kober –

Theology on Tap: Come join our new men’s group starting NEXT Thursday, July 30th, 6pm, at Alfonzo’s in Troy, IL. Contact Pastor Packer at pastorandrewpacker@gmail.com if you are planning to attend.

MELHS is looking for HOST FAMILIES for foreign students who would like to attend MELHS this coming school year (26/27).  If you would be interested in opening your home to one of these

MELHS celebrates its 50th year of ministry this coming school year and we are planning a number of events to celebrate this Jubilee Year!  There will be an event calendar coming out soon but for now we ask you to "Save the following dates"...August 22, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. will be an opening Festival Worship held at MELHS.  February 26, 2027 will be the 50th Anniversary Dinner event held at the Regency in O'Fallon.  Please mark these two events on the calendar and join us as we celebrate 50 Years of "Walking in Christ" at Lutheran High.  For more information please check out our facebook page or call the school office at 618-656-0043.

MELHS celebrates its 50th yearof ministry this fall! An opening Festival Worship service will beheld on the afternoon of Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026 to kick off this Jubilee Year. A mass band, held on the afternoon of Saturday, Aug. 22,2026 to kick off this Jubilee Year. A mass band, orchestra, and choir made up of MELHS students, alumni, parents, and friends will be a part of the service. Music will be available by August 1, with rehearsals still to be determined. If you wish to be a part of these ensembles, please contact Mr. Meador at Joseph.Meador@MELHS.org by July 31.

  • Sisterhood Event: Anchored in Hope
    Saturday, August 8 | 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
    Find your footing, trade the chaos for peace, and secure your spot today for a day of biblical teaching and genuine fellowship at our Anchored in Hope sisterhood event!
    • Location: St.   James Lutheran Church (146 N Main St, Glen Carbon, IL) 
    • Who: Open to all women aged 13 and older. 
    • Cost: Free!  However, we ask that you participate in our snack ingathering for a local   Christian youth center. If you are able, please bring a box of snacks (homemade or purchased) in their original, sealed wrapping. 
    • Childcare: Available upon request when you register. 
    • Registration can be made through the St. James website (saintjamesglencarbon.org)
