Weekly Announcements 02/01

2026 Flower Chart: The cost for flowers is $40/vase. Please sign up for February 1st & 22nd and March 1st, 8th & 29th at your convenience.
Table of Friendship is designed to provide GSLC members social time together to become better acquainted with each other. Five or six people (couples or individuals) are grouped together for three months. During that time they will take turns planning/hosting a dinner, brunch or lunch with the others in their group. The hosting person(s) decides whether to hold their event in their home, at a restaurant, at a park, etc. If the meal is in a home, it could be a potluck with the host providing the main dish and the others providing the side dishes. The next round will be April, May and June. Please email Jan Van Beek at janetlvb@yahoo.com or call 217-851-7417 with your questions and/or registration. Please register by MARCH 29th. We hope you will give it a try!!!
Guide Book & Directory Advertising Opportunity: We are in the process of updating our annual Guide Book Directory for the church. This book will contain everything pertinent to our church: the various ministries, organizations, committees, activities, functions and events plus a complete directory of all members. It is being provided and direct-mailed to each family at no cost to our church, and it is again being subsidized by local businesses that advertise. If you own or manage a business and would like to find out about advertising in our book, please call the Church Office.
LWML: All Ladies are welcome to join us on Saturday February 7th at 9 am in the Fellowship Hall. Pastor Gray will lead us in a Bible Study. Our mission outreach will be sending Valentine cards to college students and shut ins. Please bring a stamp only. Pat Hoffmeier will be donating the Valentine cards. Any questions or comments call or text Pam Hoffman at 618-409-3163.
Support SOS (SPIRIT OF SHARING SOUP KITCHEN): Look for a basket full of tubes filled with mini M & M’s on a table in the narthex.. Take one home, enjoy the candy and share it with your Valentine, then return the tube to the narthex filled with quarters (13 will fill it completely), or a check made out to SOS Soup Kitchen. This is just a tasty way to support S.O.S. in its ministry to the hungry in our community. The Soup Kitchen Coalition (churches and community groups from Collinsville area) serve take-out meals at John’s UCC every Thursday and at First United Presbyterian Church on Tuesdays. GSLC will be serving at St. John’s in July. Often the number served at each location is over 200. This fund raiser will help offset building costs, insurance, paper supplies, and the extra expense of using take-out containers and bags.
Update Membership Information: Does our church’s database have your family membership record correct? If you haven’t already done so, here is your chance to update your record for our annual Guide Book & Directory with any changes, additions, or deletions that may have occurred in your family over the past year. If you have not already informed the Church Office about changes to your record, please let us know now so that the information in the Guide Book & Directory is correct. The Church Office number is 618-344-3151. Thank you for your help!
Souper Bowl Offering: On Saturday, February 7th and Sunday, February 8th we will have a large soup bowl in the narthex to collect a special offering to benefit the Collinsville Food Pantry which oversees the community food pantry and also helps families with utility payments and other emergencies. Checks should be made payable to the Collinsville Food Pantry. Thank you!

Children’s Seminary Choir: You are invited to a Service of Evening Prayer at the Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus on the campus of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, on Friday, February 6, at 6:30 p.m. This service serves as the culminating event of the Children’s Choir Festival taking place earlier that day. The festival brings together four Lutheran school choirs from the surrounding area for a day of rehearsal and instruction under the guidance of guest clinician Joshua Pedde. The choirs will then join together in song for the evening service. Good Shepherd's school choir is honored to participate. Joshua Pedde is Executive Artistic Director of the Indianapolis Children’s Choir and also serves as a Lutheran church musician.
LCMS Foundation: We live in an “I can do it myself” culture. Sometimes we might be tempted to think a Christian estate plan is just a collection of documents (will, trust, POA). However, we need to look deeper into the factors influencing a good plan. An automated will or trust generator may not be able to capture family
nuances pertaining to inheritance. Hiring legal counsel to make sure these issues are addressed is
pursued. To prepare for working with an attorney, your Foundation Gift Planning Counselor can help.
